petrol stations strike in Sicily
The one thing I didn't consider... petrol stations will be striking in Sicily until Thursday evening. Luckily, Gabriele warned us yesterday and we managed to fill up... so now I'm driving super economically... after all we need to do Palermo - Salemi - Palermo two more times before petrol stations reopen.
Day1
The mayor of Salemi sells houses for 1 Euro. A year ago, famous people like Massimo Moratti, Peter Gabriel and Bill Gates are said to have bought houses in the old part of the city.
"If I want to see Moratti or Gates I watch them on TV, I don't need to have them come to Salemi!" says the manager of a construction company who doesn't want to see his video online.
Such a pity, because his statements were genious and sharp to the point. But he was worried that what he said could be used against him... after all, business and contracts depend on a good stand with the authorities. On the other hand, he said he will never again build anything in Salemi... the bills he charged the city council have never been paid.
